This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Stouffer's.
Like most modern couples today, the husband and I are busy, busy, busy ...but mostly, when it comes to food, we're just down right lazy. We go out to eat a lot but more often than not we order in. Spending $40 - $60 a night ordering dinner in gets expensive so when BlogHer offered to feed us for two nights, we just couldn't say no.

Our Stouffer's Sautes for Two arrived in a freezer box the next day and we were eager to try one out pronto. Touting "Grilled White Meat Chicken with Asiago Tortelloni and Spinach Tossed in a Rich Cream Sauce", we opted for the Chicken Asiago to cook up first. I read the instructions - super easy, opened the bag and tossed it all into a skillet, baked up a few pieces of garlic bread to go with it, grabbed the wine and before I could even pour our glasses, dinner was ready and served. In literally, 12 minutes!

The husband grew tired of me photographing our dinner rather quickly so we dug right in.
I have to admit, I was a bit surprised by the taste. IT WAS GREAT! I was expecting hard, rubbery chicken pieces but got not-a-one! It was flavorful and fulfilling and perfect for two!

Two nights later, Friday night to be exact, we thought we might try heating up Stouffers Sautes for two again instead of going out for our normal Friday Sushi night ...and I'm so glad we did! Just minutes after we decided to stay in, it started raining and was too chilly to go out {yes, LA chilly but still!}.

I whipped up the Prime Rib Steak and Penne Pasta with Roasted Red Peppers and Sun-Dried Tomatoes Tossed in a Creamy Alfredo Gorgonzola Sauce in minutes, made a little italian salad on the side, poured some Merlot and sat down for a perfect meal for two. I'm not sure why I was surprised again but IT WAS GREAT! The steak was tender and juicy and quite honestly, my favorite part.

I'm not exaggerating when I say, I'm 100% sure we're going to stock our freezer up with Stouffer's Sautes for Two asap! They're not only quick and easy and delicious, they're affordable, and they brought us together in the kitchen and at the table for just a bit longer than we normally would stay ...and special, quality time together is always a good thing.

Although we can't cook together (for some reason we start bossing each other around too much), we always sit down to eat together every night.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are both jazz musicians and most nights are consumed with gigs and rehearsals, we love those nights when we can just stay in with takeout, a movie, and the chihuahuas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review - since we also don't cook very often, I'm always on the lookout for new ideas to stay in and save $$$!

ReplyDeleteCooking homemade meals is almost ALWAYS how my parnter and I make extra time together. It's almost always when we get home, so it gives us the chance to detox, chat about our days, while putting our hands to work to create something together. It's actually become one of the highlights of our day, even when we're both too exhaused and DON'T want to cook.
ReplyDeleteCrazy but we hit the gym together! And on off nights, we get a dvd and watch movies/tv shows together! Love some cuddle time!

How do I find that extra bit of special time together with my significant other??
ReplyDeleteI bought a bike two years ago, and it has been one of the best investments I could've made for our relationship! The boyf and I have biked over bridges, in and out of NYC, and this May, we're doing the 5-Boro Bike Tour. Events like that help us to spend a whole Sunday of activity together expanding our horizons and working out our love-handles! Haa haa!
Also...Salsa classes. Once a week, two hours a class...the essence of couple-quality time. :)

Both of us are a bit of heath freaks, especially when it comes to food, so we spend quality time by cooking together. Our work hours are often long and unpredictable (yay software engineering!), but we still make it a point to cook together, especially on weekends, when we often prepare our meals for the week.

We make meals special by sitting at the table and talking about our day. We have two young children so it is hard to have a romantic meal at home.

Cooking together as a family makes dinner extraordinary in my household. Especially when the weather is warm and we can all participate in the backyard family bbq dinner.

We go out on most Wednesday's without Kiddos have supper, a drink sometimes, and just talk...this way we have time for each other!

We enjoy going on a walk most nights (even if it is just around the block). Our dog loves the exercise and we love the time to talk to each other and connect w/out distractions. On the weekends we like to cook together!

We work opposite schedules so my husband has to REALLY plan his sleep schedule for us to find extra time together. Though on Fridays, we always find time to stay in, drink some wine, and cook dinner together.

My significant other is an 11 lbs cutie named Rex. He doesn't care much for fancy dishes or linen tablecloths. But I have a glass of wine while he licks the plate.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I sometimes have a hard time sitting down together for dinner due to our work schedules, but when we do, we like some good wine and Italian food, like spaghetti or homemade pizza.

For me & my husband of 30 yrs, seems it is very hard to find any extra time together, our 2 grown children still live here and seems they are always around and we have barely or no-alone time but occasionally they will leave and then its just us, so we usually spend time watching movies & when the weather is warmer we take nice very long walks together and since we live near the lake we go there and just hang around and talk and we love doing that,
